Comparision: DLP vs LCoS vs LBS

  2. LBS Projectors are more compact. Thus, they require less space compared to other two technologies.
  3. LBS Projectors do not suffer from Rainbow effect.

Disadvantages:

  1. LBS Projectors are costly.
  2. LBS projectors are harmful to human eyes.

Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS)

LCoS is the newest technology out in the market relatively. It is a combination of both DLP and LCD. Liquid crystals are used. With a mirrored backing, a reflective surface is established. Depending on the motion of liquid crystals, the light either passes through them like DLP or is blocked like LCD.

Advantages:

  1. LCoS Projectors have no visible pixels.
  2. LCoS Projectors do not experience Rainbow effect.
  3. LCoS Projectors project richer colors.
  4. LCoS Projectors have high contrast ratio.

Disadvantages:

  1. LCoS Projectors suffer from convergence errors and motion blur.
  2. LCoS Projectors have low brightness level.
  3. LCoS Projectors’ lamp has a limited life.
